ChemoRV's Jason Bell wins prestigious award

ChemoRV Sales and Services Ltd. is celebrating two spectacular accomplishments this year.

First, owner Jason Bell received the Canadian RV Dealer of the Year Award from the RV Dealership Association of Canada (RVDA).

Second, ChemoRV in Quesnel has embarked on the construction of a mega sales and service facility, which will be the envy of the industry.

Chemo RV has a 40-year history serving the Cariboo region. Jason’s father, Jack, set the pace for customer service, quality manufactures and building sincere relationships and Jason, now the owner, has carried that torch proudly.

Thirteen years ago, Jack Bell won the Canadian RV Dealer of the Year Award. The award is presented to a dealership that demonstrates a long-term commitment to the community as well as a commitment to the RVDA at the provincial or national level; has been recognized by customers and peers as someone with high integrity and credibility in their work and personal life; and has made a contribution to the community.

Jason has long been a proud member of the RVDA.

This summer, as fires threatened his community and his business, he pulled up his sleeves and pitched in wherever he could. He donated units as temporary housing, made deliveries of food, water, and gift cards and donated $54,000 to the Red Cross and local fire departments.

Humbled and proud, Jason was almost speechless.

“This industry is in my blood, but I couldn’t have done it without the example set by my dad, my incredible staff and our customers.

“We’re all a part of the ChemoRV family. Our customers believe in the RV lifestyle as much as us. They’ve helped us support our community and are a huge part of the continued generosity we’ve been able to pass on.”

ChemoRV Sales and Services Ltd. operates from two locations in the Cariboo: 150 Mile House and Quesnel.

Meanwhile, Quesnel manager Steve Rutledge says, “It’s time!”

“We need a new facility as we’ve definitely outgrown the existing one.”

The existing space is approximately 8,000 square feet and the new facility will be 20,000 square feet, almost three times the size of the old building.

Steve says they looked at the 150 Mile location, which is about the same size as the new Quesnel facility, but with a different configuration.

The building will house an amazing showroom, which will be the star of the facility. It will have the capacity to display up to 12 RVs depending on the size.

“We’re the envy of the company,” Steve says.

The balance of the facility will be a 50- by 100-foot service area with drive-through capabilities with 18-foot doors at either end and 26-foot ceilings at the centre.

Every RV on the road can be serviced in this space, Steve adds.

“Our RV service technicians work on everything but the drive train. We can fix anything from electrical, plumbing, roofing, siding and interior work. We’re a leader in RV sales in B.C. and one of the largest RV dealerships in the province, with two convenient locations in Quesnel and 150 Mile House.”

The Quesnel operation began 30 years ago and the business is growing. According to RV manufacturers, they expect to put close to 500,000 RVs on the road in North America in 2018.

Construction on Quesnel’s new facility is expected to take about eight to 12 months. All the construction and subcontractors are from either Quesnel or Williams Lake, with the only exception being the steel, which is from Prince George, as it wasn’t available in either Quesnel or Williams Lake.

Once the new facility is operating, Steve expects to hire three or four new staff members.

ChemoRV Sales and Services is a year-round business, busy throughout each season.

Steve says he loves his job and the company he works for.

“This is a fabulous place to work and a rewarding industry to be part of.”
